The American B.H.O. & Sewing Machine Company was a Philadelphia manufacturer founded in the 1860s. Known for its innovative “New American” sewing machines, the company specialized in buttonhole and overseaming technology and earned recognition at major exhibitions such as the 1876 Centennial Exhibition in Philadelphia. Although the company disappeared by the late 19th century, its machines are still appreciated by collectors and historians today.
