Wheeler & Wilson was an American sewing-machine company founded in 1853 by Allen B. Wilson, an inventor, and Nathaniel Wheeler, a businessman.
The company was based in Connecticut, later moving major operations to Bridgeport.
It became famous for key inventions, especially the rotating hook and the four-motion feed, which made sewing machines smoother, faster, and more reliable. During the 1860s–1870s, Wheeler & Wilson was one of the leading sewing-machine makers in the United States and won international awards.
After the founders died, the company declined, and in 1905 it was purchased by Singer. Although the brand disappeared, its technology strongly influenced modern sewing machines.
